Eric Carle. The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Scholastic Inc. 1969, Pages: 15, Reading Level: Pre-K, Lexile: 100L, Ages: 2-4, Genre: Classics, Picture Book Rating-
The Very Hungry Caterpillar is about a caterpillar that eats his way through the book. There are different fruits, plants, and foods that are included into this hunger rage that the caterpillar has. But why is the caterpillar eating everything in sight? I think this is a great book for Pre-K students. I would use this book for preschoolers to connect what the different types of foods and plants the caterpillar eats to the names. For kindergarten students I would make it a little bit more challenging and teach them the life cycle of a butterfly. I would teach them then have them draw each part of the cycle.
